The new line more than doubles Timberland's existing children's line and offers a variety of new colors and styles that are designed for activities such as hiking and camping, as well as everyday casual wear. In sizes designed for kids between the ages of two and 10, the new line is due at retail July 15 -- just in time for back to school.

Timberland's Fall `97 line includes new color updates in its classic boot collection; new trekking, hiking and country trail shoes in its rugged collection; an all new dress casual collection with fashion bucks; and an expanded toddler series with new classic boots and rugged casual styles.

In addition, in keeping with the company's reputation for innovation, Timberland is the first U.S. company to offer Gore-Tex linings in its children's line of rugged casual products. The company is also adding a number of models that are designed specifically for girls. Previously, the line had been unisex. Girls styles are available in both Timberland's Fall `97 casual and rugged footwear lines.
